Prognostic Factors for Visual Outcomes in Acute Anterior Optic Neuritis Using Optical Coherence Tomography

چکیده
Purpose: To identify the clinical characteristics and predictors of visual outcomes in acute anterior optic neuritis patients treated with high-dose steroid pulse therapy using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).Methods: In this study, medical records 34 intravenous followed-up for at least 3 months were retrospectively reviewed. The divided into two groups based on final best-corrected acuity (BCVA); group 1 (n = 23) had a BCVA ≥20/32, while 2 11) <20/32. Clinical parameters obtained SD-OCT evaluated to factors influencing outcome. Results: There no statistically significant differences or demographic data between groups. Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) swelling initial presentation was less common (p 0.015), time pRNFL thickness stabilization longer 0.016), 1. Multivariate logistic regression demonstrated better whom took longer, as well those smaller reduction macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform (mGCIPL) thickness, without recurrence 0.002, 0.016, 0.035, respectively). Conclusions: Intravenous much improved long-term delayed stabilization, mGCIPL reduction, recurrence. This suggests that inner after may serve biomarkers treatment neuritis.

Evaluating the Use of Optical Coherence Tomography in Optic Neuritis
Optic neuritis (ON) is an inflammatory optic nerve injury, which is strongly associated with multiple sclerosis (MS). Axonal damage in the optic nerve manifests as retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) deficits, which can be readily quantified with optical coherence tomography (OCT). The RNFL represents the most proximal region of the afferent visual pathway; and, as such, is a unique region of the ...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the retinal perfusion using optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography in eyes with good visual acuity recovery after treatment for optic neuritis (ON). METHODS Seven eyes of seven patients with good visual acuity recovery after treatment for monocular ON and seven eyes of each fellow eye used as controls were studied. Retinal perfusion around the disc and at the mac...
متن کاملInterrelationship of optical coherence tomography and multifocal visual-evoked potentials after optic neuritis.
PURPOSE Acute optic neuritis (ON) is often followed by recovery of visual function. Although this recovery is mainly attributable to resolution of the acute inflammation, the redistribution of ion channels along the demyelinated membrane, and subsequent remyelination, part of it may be the result of neural plasticity. In the present study, the interrelationship was examined between structural (...

PURPOSE To analyze the corneal thickness and anterior chamber (AC) angle using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) in patients with acute anterior uveitis (AAU). METHODS Twenty two patients (24 eyes) were included. All patients underwent complete ophthalmological examination, applanation tonometry and AS-OCT at diagnosis and fifteen days after treatment. RESULTS Average c...

PURPOSE To describe the characteristics of the optic nerve head (ONH) in patients with nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and compare them with control subjects by using optical coherence tomography (OCT). METHODS Patients with NAION underwent a complete ophthalmic examination, including OCT scanning of the ONH at diagnosis. The examination was repeated 1.5, 3, and 6 mont...
